Clean Room Microbiologist (Shift-Based)

Location: Tees Wear, Durham Region
Salary: c£45K
Job Type: Full-Time, 4 on, 4 off

Join a leading pharmaceutical manufacturing team as a Clean Room Microbiologist.

CY Partners is recruiting on behalf of an established pharmaceutical manufacturer seeking a Clean Room Microbiologist to support microbiological testing and environmental monitoring within GMP clean room facilities. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced microbiologist who enjoys working in a regulated environment and is comfortable working a shift pattern.

The Role

As a Clean Room Microbiologist, you will play a key role in maintaining the microbiological integrity of manufacturing environments by carrying out routine environmental monitoring, testing, and investigation activities to ensure compliance with GMP and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform environmental monitoring of clean rooms, including viable and non-viable sampling.
  • Conduct microbiological testing of samples using standard laboratory techniques.
  • Identify and report microbial isolates where required.
  • Monitor environmental trends and support investigations into out-of-specification or out-of-trend results.
  • Ensure all laboratory documentation is completed accurately and in compliance with GMP requirements.
  • Support contamination control initiatives and continuous improvement activities.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure adherence to health, safety, and quality procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, and other site departments.

About You

We're looking for candidates with:

  • A degree (or equivalent qualification) in Microbiology, Biological Sciences, or a related discipline.
  • Experience working within a GMP pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or similar regulated laboratory environment.
  • Hands-on experience of clean room environmental monitoring.
  • Knowledge of GMP and aseptic manufacturing principles.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent documentation skills.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a shift team.
