My client are a leading clinical and laboratory service provider, specialising in a range of therapeutic areas and with the patient at the heart of their research. Using their specialist clinical trial platform, they play a key role in drug and vaccine development and are currently investing heavily in their state of the art clinical facilities in Central Manchester. As a result, they are looking to expand their clinical trials team, through bringing on board a Healthcare Assistant (HCA) within their Manchester clinic.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading clinical research organisation within a team of knowledgeable and motivated clinical professionals, driving forward the testing of infectious and respiratory disease products in drug discovery and development.


Key Responsibilities of the Healthcare Assistant (HCA) will include;

  • Performing clinical procedures, ensuring accuracy and credibility of data gathered.
  • Assist with the daily management of the clinical area.
  • Provide receptionist and administrative duties for arriving volunteers to the screening or follow up visit, ensuring the reception area is staffed always during clinic hours.
  • Screening suitable subjects, including panel screen consenting.
  • Monitor work areas and practices to ensure that they are safe, free from hazards and conform to health, safety and security legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Deal with queries, filing, audit information preparation, database entry and general correspondence, quickly and efficiently.
  • Accurate completion of Case Report Forms (CRF’s) and other data points as required by the protocol.
  • Adherence to ICH/GCP and best practice always Practice in accordance to internal policies, Standard Operating Procedures and Study Protocols.


To be considered for the Healthcare Assistant (HCA) role you'll need the following skills and experience;

  • A degree (or similar experience) in a Biological Science such as Biology, Pharmacology, Physiology, Sports Science, Biomedical Science or a related discipline.
  • Experience working in a customer facing role e.g. hospitality, healthcare, sales etc.
  • A good understanding of UK healthcare practices, including ICH-GCP would be advantageous.
  • Strong communication skills so to be able to communicate effectively with volunteers and colleagues.
  • Experience within administration / documentation due to the focus on this within clinical research.
  • Strong IT skills (Word and Excel or equivalent) and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and within the team to ensure the smooth running of the clinic and studies.
  • Hands on experience within Phlebotomy practices e.g. venepuncture would be very useful.
  • Previous experience working within a hospital setting, in clinical research or knowledge of Clinical Care, would be an advantage.
