An exciting opportunity has opened up for a Laboratory Technician to join a cutting-edge clean-tech company as it scales its ground-breaking direct air carbon capture (DAC) technology. This role is ideal for someone with hands-on lab experience who thrives in fast-paced, purpose-driven environments.
About the Opportunity
You’ll be part of a collaborative, mission-focused team working on one of the most urgent challenges of our time: removing CO₂ from the atmosphere. As a Lab Technician, you’ll support core R&D and operations activities – from running tests and calibrating instruments to helping maintain lab standards and stock levels. It’s a great time to join, as the company transitions from early R&D to global scale-up.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Conduct laboratory tests on prepared samples using established SOPs
- Support scientists with planning and executing research experiments
- Ensure experiments are monitored and documented accurately
- Calibrate and maintain key equipment - pH meters, CO₂ sensors, chromatography units
- Help manage lab consumables and maintain inventory records
- Share responsibility for ordering lab supplies and equipment upkeep
- Contribute to health & safety, COSHH compliance, and overall lab housekeeping
What We’re Looking For
- HND/HNC or BSc/BEng degree in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline
- Prior working experience in a laboratory environment
- Familiarity with maintaining and troubleshooting lab equipment
- Strong problem-solving skills and a logical, hands-on mindset
- A collaborative approach – able to work well with scientists, engineers, and managers
- Comfortable adapting to evolving priorities in a start-up environment
- A good understanding of lab safety practices and risk assessments
