As a QC Scientist, you will be responsible for performing scientific and general maintenance tasks within the QC department, developing your knowledge of existing company products and calibrating, maintaining and troubleshooting it. As well as stock maintenance, adhering to company regulations and safety guidelines, participating in quality functions and audits as well as other duties instructed by management.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • To perform scientific and associated tasks within the QC department, following QC protocols to provide quality control over company products.
  • To assist Management in the organising of assigned work on a day-to-day basis being aware of the urgency and timescales.
  • To develop and maintain specialist knowledge of the equipment used within the QC department, conducting maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • To perform functional external quality assessment testing and subsequent data and report review.
  • To develop, maintain and apply theoretical electrophoresis knowledge to support routine QC work, as well as external quality assessments and R&D functions.
  • To work in accordance to Health and Safety and COSHH guidelines when handling reagents and chemicals used in automated and manual techniques. Complying to all site regulations.
  • To identify potential shortcomings and trends to product performance, raising these with the QC Manager and assisting with implementation of any necessary action.
  • To maintain the stock of retained products.
  • Oversight of calibration status of laboratory equipment requiring periodic calibration, ensuring all required documentation is completed and stored appropriately.
  • To carry out other duties as directed by management.

About you:

  • Good laboratory practice.
  • A background in a relevant Life Science discipline with a working knowledge of electrophoresis.
  • Competent in the use of the Internet and Microsoft Windows programs including Word, Excel Power Point, and other statistical analysis software.
  • Competency in maths and statistics.
  • Effective ability to work well within a team setting.
  • Ability to communicate well.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills, with the ability to plan and prioritise.
