Job Title: Research & Development Engineer

Salary: c. £30,000 - £35,000

Location: Yorkshire

Contract Length & Start Date: Permanent, Immediate.

 

Are you looking to advance your career within R&D functions in industry? An amazing opportunity is available with a leading Medical Device company to contribute to the design and development of new medical device products.

As a Research & Development Engineer, you will be responsible for writing and reviewing validation plans associated with manufacturing and new product development projects. This will include working with partners, updating and maintaining schedules, risk management files and supporting QA functions.

 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Writing, reviewing and approving validation plans, reports and testing protocols in accordance with international standards. As well as design and development testing/documentation.
  • Communicating with external suppliers to ensure compliance with manufacturing validation/controls as well as design and development testing/documentation in line with necessary regulations. This includes new product development (NPD) projects and maintenance of existing products. 
  • Responsible for reviewing and updating Risk Management Files for new product development (NPD) projects and maintenance of existing products. 
  • Lead on R&D projects through; generating, updating and maintaining project plans.
  • Support Quality Assurance and wider teams with root cause analysis, non-conformance reports and complaints. As well as support during Regulatory and Quality System audits (internal and external) where required.
  • Responsible for working with external partners, to run studies, ensuring the studies are planned correctly and delivered to agreed timings. 
  • Involvement in change control impact assessment for manufacturing changes, completion of assigned actions. 
  • Participate in training exercises with other members of staff and participate in meetings to ensure projects are progressing.

 

Personal Specification:

  • Hold a relevant scientific degree to BSc/MSc level (Scientific or Medical Engineering).
  • Prior industry experience of 2-3 years, preferably within Medical Devices.
  • Ability to work to own initiative and as part of a team setting.
  • Excellent organisational abilities and time management skills.
