R&D Scientist
Full-time | Permanent | Onsite
CY Partners is supporting a growing organisation within the diagnostics and life sciences sector as they look to appoint a Scientist to join their expanding R&D team.
This is a hands on laboratory role offering the opportunity to contribute to the development of innovative diagnostic assays, working across different stages of the R&D process within a commercially focused environment.
You’ll contribute to projects from early feasibility and assay optimisation through to scale-up and transfer into manufacturing, giving you the opportunity to see how diagnostic products progress beyond the laboratory and towards real world use.
The opportunity
Working alongside experienced scientists, you’ll contribute to a varied pipeline of diagnostic development projects for both internal programmes and external partners.
The role would suit a scientist with experience in immunoassay or diagnostic development who enjoys practical laboratory work, problem solving and using experimental data to improve assay performance.
What you’ll be doing
- Planning and carrying out laboratory experiments to support assay development
- Supporting assay feasibility, development and optimisation activities
- Analysing experimental results and using data to guide further development
- Troubleshooting assay performance and investigating technical challenges
- Preparing reagents, materials and experimental protocols
- Maintaining clear and accurate experimental records and technical documentation
- Preparing and presenting experimental findings to colleagues and project teams
- Supporting scale-up and transfer of developed assays into manufacturing
- Working collaboratively with colleagues across R&D, Manufacturing, Quality and other functions
- Contributing to SOPs and working within established quality systems and laboratory procedures
Experience and or qualifications required:
- A degree in a relevant scientific discipline
- Practical laboratory experience within assay development, immunoassays, diagnostics or a closely related area
- Good experimental design and problem-solving skills
- Confidence analysing and interpreting scientific data
- Strong attention to detail and accurate documentation skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative scientific team
Desirable
- Experience with immunoassay development and optimisation
- Experience within the diagnostics, medical device or life sciences industry
- Knowledge of working within a regulated environment such as ISO 13485 or ISO 9001
Why consider this role?
Develop hands on expertise in diagnostics development projects
Work across different stages of product development rather than one narrow part of the process
See your scientific work progress from the laboratory towards manufacturing and commercial application
Learn from experienced scientists within an established diagnostics R&D team
Applicants must have the right to work permanently in the UK.
